“This game ain’t basketball anymore, its entertainment,” Wallace said. “It’s starting to get like the WWF. There ain’t no real wrestling anymore either. It’s all fake.”
Stern responded with a rebuke on Friday.
“If it’s Friday, it must be Rasheed Wallace,” Stern said with a heavy sigh, according to the Detroit News.
“We have a great game and it provides a lot of people - Rasheed and myself included - a very good living,” Stern said. “I think we all need to learn to be respectful of all that this game has brought and know that there are a lot of people who have worked extremely hard to bring us all to this place. I think Rasheed needs to think about that before he starts questioning things and making those kinds of statements.”
What I am hearing is don’t bite the hand the feeds you. Don’t scream about the man behind the curtain pulling on the puppet strings. David Stern is pissed that Rasheed has violated this trust after he has reaped the benefits.
Well then I am pissed because this shit is fixed! The Tim Donaghy scandal is only the beginning of exposing a truly corrupt league. David Stern needs to figure out how to fix the integrity of the NBA or he needs to step aside and let someone else do it. Where are the instant replays? Where’s the accountability? The only thing DS did this summer to rectify the tainted games Tim Donaghy refed, is remove the zero-tolerance for gambling for the 53 refs named as recreational gamblers. Huh?!? We are loosening the rules on refs gambling? That’s the plan, seriously?
How can anyone blame Rasheed? How can you blame Ray Allen? How can you blame Amare? The league is fixed, and they don’t seem to care. Hopefully the Lakes are scheduled to win on Tuesday, cause I’ll be there…PR8 Row 8.
I just spent last the 30 minutes figuring out a 4 team mega deal that seems pretty fair…well maybe not for Houston. With Kwame’s contract expiring next year, that leaves them a lot of cap room and they haven’t achieved the success they have been looking for with TMac. This trade works in salary and effectively sends Kobe to the east and a big market.
So here it goes. I can live with this. Link

Who wishes we had the music and basketball of 2001? I know I sound like a bitter old man reminiscing on yesteryear. If I really think back, that was pre bloc party, pre kings of leon, pre lebron james, pre kobe’s 81, pre arcade fire…but for some reason it seems much simpler.
Hip Hop wasn’t “dead.” The Lakers were winning championships. There wasn’t any tangible proof the refs were cheating. Britney’s VMA performances were mad hot, and the country didn’t hate George Bush. We actually rooted for Cheney to bomb the middle east. Things were simple back then. Why is it now so complex? For every 20000 “rappers” there is one genuine hip hop artist. For all of Kobe’s heroics, that championship team has been dismantled, shaq brought a title to miami, the lakes are stuck with kwame and izzo wants out.
I don’t know if it’s my perception, my age, my transgression from truly being a child to the “dreaded” 30s or the haze from the bubba kush, but everything seems tarnished. I know life works in cycles. The lakers, one day, will win again. Music will always change and for some, it’s never been better. The country will have it’s good, its bad and it’s phuking awful leaders. I know it cycles. I was just reminded of the lakers 2001 championship dvd. I thought of shaq and his pre game huddle chant.

It’s been years since I have been a real fan of magic. That’s probably because the new crop of magicians are giant douche bags who stare vacantly into the camera. Copperfield was the real deal. He was my childhood hero. First Kobe, now Copperfield. What’s next? Michael Jackson being accused of raping little boys…oh…yeah.
At least the report of the FBI seizing 2 million in cash were false. I was going to say…since when are they allowed to take your cash if you are accused of rape? But What Da Phuk??! There is no one left in our vapid society worth admiring. There are some talented people but the idea of a celebrity, an athlete, a musician, a politician actually being a role model or hero is long gone.
Not to be insensitive but wouldn’t Copperfield just hypnotize her and make her forget about it anyway. Don’t all magicians carry forgetmenots?

A month away from the originally scheduled release, the Wu Tang Clan are butting heads with each other and have canceled their national tour. The new Dec 4th release date of 8 Diagrams has infuriated Ghostface who is set to drop Big Dough Rehab on the same day. For 14 years the Wu have been able to stay together as one of the most influential groups in hip hop. Now, unable to form like Voltron, the Wu are mad at RZA’s brother who has been refusing to payout royalties and touring profits.
At the same time, Kobe Bryant has sat out from his 3rd practice and has reportedly taken home the personal items from his locker. Phil Jackson was uniquely quiet but said “things need to be discussed.” ESPN’s Mark Stein says a trade is now inevitable.
Other than that I am doing just great. How are you?

Why do new episodes of The Simpsons constantly start at 7:59PM? It’s not like my clock is wrong. I am looking at the time on the cable box. It’s pretty accurate. I remember watching a different New Years 2000 counting down on 10 different islands — it was as accurate as ol’ big ben himself. My Blackberry has the right time. So does my computer, when I actually get the Windows time to sync. So why is the Simpsons starting 1 minute early every Sunday?
This isn’t new. It’s been going on for years. The reason this is frustrating me is that I tivo (timewarner DVR) it every week. Who watches anything in real time anymore? The DVR does have an option for starting the show a few minutes early. But I am usually in a hurry to leave and I quickly set The Simpsons along with King of the Hill and the rest of the Sunday night line-up. It’s not like I can set a season pass for new Simpson episodes, with it starting a minute early. Anyone with a DVR knows that doesn’t work. You will wind up recording every 6ish and 11ish (depending on your Fox affiliate) episode that week. So I manually set it, and I usually forget that for some bizarre reason it starts early.
Normally I wouldn’t care that I missed the opening credits of a show. But any true Simpsons fan knows the opening is what it’s all about. I have completely given up on recording anything on MTV. Not only does the cable guide not match the show, they are so messed up, shows are starting 40 minutes into the hour. Comedy Central loves to run 2 minutes over and Showtime runs just about 5 minutes over (Bullshit did). I have gotten used to that.
But why on earth is The Simpsons, the longest running comedy show, starting early? I can’t figure it out. Does anyone know?
