For the past week, I have been having problems with the hosting company that currently hosts What Da Phuk! Host Department is the worst host I have dealt with. Their servers aren't allowing me to access the box via FTP via Passive mode and is failing on the force to PORT. In other words, I can't motherphuking upload any motherphuking images.
This especially sucks because I have compiled the worlds largest Bar Refaeli picture gallery and I am unable to display it. The world needs more Bar and Host Department is preventing this. I am also unable to post the second gallery from the world's greatest artist, Sunil Bhanot.
This is the reason the blog posts have been sparse. Every time I am about to blog I am reminded that I can't post pics…and my hatred for Host Department starts to consume my entire soul. But in the end it's my fault. I have hated them for a while and I haven't moved away. I will get this fixed ASAP and remember to stay away from Host Department.
As I actively begin the spring cleaning for WDP, I am going to be benchmarking quite a few things. The first test will be the removal of the comments. As I push the site more into the realm of Web 2.0, I am aware removing the user interaction is a step in the complete opposite direction. However, while I make a transition to the LAMP architecture, I must keep this (current) server running smoothly.
Certain blog posts have been a magnet for blog spam. I have been thinking of the true importance of the comments, and I believe they are necessary (in some form). But on the flip side, this is my soap box. I get to stand here and say whatever it is I want. I don't really care what you say down there on the paved ground. I am up here preaching, proselytizing and peddling my thoughts. That's what What Da Phuk! is about. The only way I can be sure if I need this conventional comment system, is to remove it and see if I actually miss it.
Don't user comments seem a bit 1.0? It's just a collection of vertical (date) descending statements with no collaborative thought. Is a forum the answer? Then again, do I even care what YOU have to say. Time Magazine might think this all about YOU. What Da Phuk! is all about ME!!!
*All the non-spam comments will be preserved.*
If you have ever blogged with Wordpress 2.0 then you are familiar with Tiny MCE. I love this HTML editor. It has about 100 added features from the RichHTML editor I was using previously.
The coolest thing, the re-sizable posting box. I love it. This one of many changes that will be happening to WDP over the next 5 months. WDP is less than a half year away from 2 years old. Oh no…another reason to talk about Web 2.0. Like there wasn't enough already. And don't say nothing bout these incomplete sentences.
Hopefully this will be my last late night post for a very long time. My current job requires me to be there by 8am. And if I am looking to actually impress them I should be there before 8. So this will be (has to be) my last 3am, weekday post. I am a night owl and this change is going to take some getting used to. It’s kinda nice having some of the afternoon, but it’s kinda hot. Especially since the downstairs air-conditioner is broken, again!
Anyway, signing off at 3am. From now on the posts will no longer be in the
What Da Phuk! has moved to a new server!
I know it isn’t spring but I felt cleaning.
As if I don’t already have enough shit to do this week, I have decided that it may be time to join the blogging masses and move the blog to WordPress.
Welcome!!! What Da Phuk!?! Do I need to explain? Do I have to say this is a “blog” site? Isn’t every site that isn’t selling something just a blog? This is nothing new. I ain’t selling shit. Well maybe just my proverbial soul — but who needs that anyway. Finally, somewhere I can just write, about what I want, when I want, unless I am at work and I talk about work and write about my boss, and post it on the internet. I guess there still are some rules.
So let’s leave work out of it. I think for the most part I might be leaving grammar and punctuation and probobly spellling out of it too. This is for me and hopefully some of you, one of you, ok just me, will enjoy this. This is what I always wanted to do from the first web site I ever created (ask Howard). Not enough sites use humor. We either have boring, utilitarian sites selling us something, or it’s the hamster dance. OK now I am just rambling which I will do cause this be my blog and if you don’t like it, Phuk you.
