Here is a quick recap of the All Star Weekend

• Sophomores destroy the Rookies. David Lee, CP3 & Luther Head just tear it up.

• Classic "in the face" dunks.
• Bavetta Barkley race. I have to give props to Barkley. I didn't think he was going to win. In fact, I actually thought he was going to die.
• Pippen shows the Bulls, Heat, Lakers, & Cavs that he is ready to come back to the NBA. He shot 3 three pointers and 2 half court shots. (He made 1 three pointer.) If that doesn't say NBA ready…
• Smush gets to be part of All Star weekend. I wonder if he drove the Smushcalade to Vegas?
• Kobe tears up the skillz challenge (first round). He has the lowest time but winds up losing to Wade in the final round. Damn, chest pass. Izzo, come on!
• Kapono wins the 3 point shoutout with ease. He kills the final round by tying the record with 24. That UCLA kid can shoot. Arenas almost had it. Dirk and JT, way to hold it down for Dallas. I am sure Cuban is very proud.
• Kobe, Carter, Jordan, Dominique and Dr J judge the dunk contest. Reggie Miller repeatedly suggests Kobe and Carter shouldn't be judges. Jordan stands alone as the un-fun judge. Dwight Howard's sticker dunk was original and damn!!! He jumped mad high. Nate, can throw it down for a guy 5'7" but come on. You got to slam it in the first 2 tries. Gerald Green, he threw it down.
• Wayne Newton looked terrible. He air guitared and air violined. He lip-synced his songs and they still sounded awful. Does David Stern still think this is what Vegas is about?
• Kobe leads the West in scoring in the first half. When Tony Parker didn't play, Kobe assumed the role as the point guard and facilitator. 6 assists and 6 steals. He was on mission.
• Christina Aguilera rocked the halftime show. I guess the debate is truly over. Xtina is a real superstar and Britney, well…
• Kobe keeps it going in the second half. I have always said Kobe would love playing with Marion. That guy is a walking stat sheet.
• Izzo gets the MVP. This time there are no boos.
• Charley Rosen writes an article trashing the entire weekend. Come on Charley, it's fun. Yes, Don Nelson in bikini would be hilarious. Gross, but hilarious.

Overall I thought this was a great All Star weekend. The West dominated and all of the events were fun. The race was an added bonus and showed us a league that is caught up in "image" and technical fouls, still has a sense of humor. I still can't believe Barkley won. He even back peddled the last half. I love All Star weekend.
