Almost Preakness

It’s almost Preakness time. I have a pretty good history with the Preakness. In 2006, I won $1995.59 and the IRS hasn’t let me forget about it. Last year, I also had the winning trifecta, but it only paid $104.60. A friend of mine managed to have $10 on the winning trifecta for this past Derby.

He won $11,687.

Here are the official results for the Kentucky Derby 2010

Horse Jockey Win Place Show
Super Saver Borel 18.00 8.80 6.00
Ice Box Lezcano 11.20 8.00
Paddy O’Prado Desormeaux 7.40

$2 Exacta (4-2) Paid $152.40

$2 Trifecta (4-2-10) Paid $2,337.40

$2 Super (4-2-10-9) Paid $202,569.20

As of right now, 13 (out of 14) horses are ready to run this Sat. Calvin Borel once again has a shot of at Triple Crown history. Can he pull it off? Will I win money? Will a drunk elephant run on the field while Manny Pacquio sings the national anthem in hebrew? We’ll find out together, this Saturday.

And yes, my money is on the elephant.

It’s a little crazy that the 2 favorites each got a rail and the outside post, respectively. However you can’t ever discount any horse driven by Kent Desormeaux and last year’s, almost triple crown, champ, Calvin Borel.

This is the Kentucky Derby, any of these 50-1ers could win it. Any of ‘em.

I’ll be at the Santa Anita track, at a Markers Mark party, watching the simulcast, drinkin my drank and making my $2 box trifectas, all day long. Wutang! I love this sport!

Eclipse Awards 2010 on TVG

Last night, I received an email that Zenyata was up against Rachel Alexandra. I set a reminder to turn on TVG and I’m currently watching the preshow for the Eclipse Awards.

So they aren’t racing. This is just an awards show.

I love horse racing. I really do. But there needs to be racing. I’m not down with the whole awards show…not until I actually own a horse.

I guess this is just like the AVNs for horse fuckers.
