According to /Film, the director will be in Austin, TX to do a short film with the band based on the concept of “friends growing apart.” MTV  also got a Jonze spokesperson to confirm the collaboration and location, but he wouldn’t name any other details. Jonze and Arcade Fire were bound to work together after Where The Wild Things Are (Jonze said  the band were a huge inspiration). But it’s not clear if this will be a short film like Jonze’s work  with Kanye West, an extended music video for their upcoming album, or something in-between.

In the meantime, watch Jonze’s awesome I’m Here robot short film, featuring Sleigh Bells’ “A/B Machines.” A robot has it playing in her car while she’s driving, naturally.

It seems like they got the artist right, just not the album. Then again I find myself thinking about an album pre 2000. Outkast’s Speakkkerboxx may beat out Stankonia and Blueprint 2 (and possibly 3) are better than the first one. Bloc Party’s Silent Alarm (their only good album) is missing from the list. In Rainbows should be there as well. Where is Aha Shake Heartbreak? That’s Kings of Leon at their finest. Eminem’s Slim Shady LP is MIA.

They did get one thing correct….

Arcade Fire’s Funeral is for sure one of — if not — the best album of the decade!
