2 More Days

I spent most of today working on the design update. It’s almost ready. I can’t believe it’s been 4 years and 3 months since version 2.0 went live. It’s been a lot of fun and we’ve hit a lot of milestones. As we approach 2000 blog posts we certainly want to look our best. They say the average homepage lifespan is 6 months, it’s slightly different for blogs, but considering this is your most favorite site in the world, it’s time I give it some love and give it something new.

So I need about 2 more days and the new brutiful design will be ready to go live.

Viva What Da Phuk?!

Brutiful New Site Design

By the end of this month What Da Phuk! will have an brand new design and blog restructuring.

We’re gonna be moving some stuff around and making it look better.

The design has been finished for over a month but I have been too busy to implement it. I am setting a hard deadline of Oct 31 for it to go live.

I’m working hard to make it as brutiful as the actual Yale School of Art Website.

And hey Yale, just because it’s a “wiki” that doesn’t account for it looking like a color blind 6 year old with a learning disability should be the one making most of the design updates.

Fucking liberals.

Let Me Hit That Shit Google Analytics Style

It’s time to pull out the proverbial mirror and don our most narcissistic self-indulgence hat. In 2010, that means Google ourselves. Well in this case, let’s check out what’s happening in Google Analytics. The good news is that the popularity of your favorite blog is growing. We’re pulling a steady 500 – 800 uniques, per day. Those are the slow days. Some days spike to 1200ish. That’s a lot of traffic, you say. Yes. Yes it is. But it’s not something I plan on monetizing. I’ll save that explanation for another post.

Let’s take a look at the top 10 kephrases that brought a bulk of the traffic to WDP:

  1. who is andrea arlington
  2. only kings have rings
  3. tess taylor adopted
  4. tess taylor
  5. werewolf bar mitzvah what da phuk
  6. kingda ka roller coaster
  7. worst status update on this planet!!
  8. avis cyrus
  9. josh axelman
  10. vajazzle pics

3 of the the top 4 have to do with Tess Taylor or her adopted mother, Andrea Arlington. I am no longer the ruler and king of vajazzling. I’m receiving more traffic for that douchebag josh axelman and werewolf bar mitzvah. I’m thinking to reclaim my vajazzled crown is to somehow come up with Tess Taylor vajazzled pics. A boy can dream….

shhhh…still dreaming…..

Anyway, let’s get back to what we were talking about. What were we talking about? Oh yeah, analytics and traffic sources. Here’s the full list…in no particular order except for alphabetical.

5 Years Old

I purchased the domain in December of 2004 because I was tired of emailing certain things to certain to people and other things to other people. I sit in front of the computer all day (and night) and I come across some great (and lame) shit and want to share it. I figured why not just post it in one place?!

I wanted the domain whatthefuck.com or wtf.com but they were unavailable. I decided on a more urban vernacular domizzle and whatdaphuk.com was born. I installed aspNuke and used a harsh blue background, while only posting a few made-up stories. I didn’t build any followers. It wasn’t until March that I completely rebranded the site as my own personal blog. A clean, two-column template, a custom built blogging CMS and the logo — the infamous W in a font named “Da Bomb” and boom…WhatDaPhuk.Com was reborn.

In July of 2007, a major overhaul once again took place. I no longer used the custom built blogging CMS built in ASP and MSSQL. I installed WordPress and once again changed the look of the site. The logo remained the same but the color scheme changed. Hello #91c1e5. When I imported the old posts into WordPress, something happened causing most of them to get cut off. If you look at the early stuff, you’ll see most of it isn’t actually there. I have it in an access db so one of these days I will fix it. That seems like a job for an eventual assistant to phuk up and have me correct. I used to really write some long winded posts. Twitter has taught me that I can say everything I need to say in 140 chrs or less.

Anyway, so here we are, 3 years later and I am still blogging on this site. I have been planning and *eventually* will add a user generated content portion to this site. There’s a lot of shiznits on the internets, I can’t be the only one to find and post it. I need your help. Don’t worry. I still intend to keep the blog portion of the site along with the addition of guest bloggers.

Let’s go big! What it do! Here’s to another 5 years!

Viva WDP!!!
