Xmas Day Massacre

I hate that I have become all too familiar with the word “massacre.” Last season it was the Mothers Day Massacre during the playoffs. This year it’s Xmas.

Last year made me believe this year would be different. The Lakes handed Boston their first loss in like 20 something games. This Xmas…to save me from tears…well they didn’t…and I just quoted Wham. Oy Vey.

After the Lakers lost badly Xmas of 06, I posted that I was no longer watching Xmas day Lakers games. I vowed to do something much more fun on the greatest day of the year. Although if it was really that great, more places would be open to eat. Anyway…here’s how the lakers fare on Xmas this decade:

Year Opponent W/L Score
2000 Portland Blazers L 104 – 109
2001 Philadelphia Sixers W 88 – 82
2002 Sacramento Kings L 99 – 105
2003 Houston Rockets L 87 – 99
2004 Miami Heat L 102 – 104
2005 Miami Heat L 92 – 97
2006 Miami Heat L 85 – 101
2007 Phoenix Suns W 122 – 115
2008 Boston Celtics W 92 – 83
2009 Cleveland Cavs L 102 – 87

The Lakers are 3 – 7 on Xmas day games in the last 10 years. With a 30% win rate, I really have to start finding much better shit to do on Xmas. Next year is Hawaii…cause this is some foam finger throwing, bullllllsheeeeet!
